So, I’ve had 4 odd bottles from the case with a rather burnt wood flavour profile on mid palate and finish which is rather offputting and in my view a fault. I’d somewhat given up and opened this with low expectations. But thankfully no sign of the burnt flavours. This bottle was a lovely. Red fruits on the nose and palate. Cherry, raspberry. Touch of earthiness. A really clean and pure palate. Good energy.
Balance and order restored in my joy of Bachelet wines. There seem to be issues with the 2009/2010 Gevrey village. No idea If there was some experimentation or just bad luck.

Jason's Village Burgundies II (67 Pall Mall): Lovely cherry character to the nose, floral and appealing. A bit of spritz to begin with, a good swish removes it. Red fruit is measured and composed, delicious actually - this is quite classy stuff. Some glossy notes, a smokey quality, very nice. I last had this towards the end of 2023 and that bottle was a lot tighter. Tonight this is much more with it and ready to go, even though you feel it has the structure to go on for a good while.

Village Burgundy: Dense ruby. Attractive nose. Some Gevrey character but also a squeeze of citrus in the vein of old Rioja. Attractive in a savoury rather than flashily fruited sense. Measured and ever so slightly two toned. ****

Jason & Simon's Village Burgundy Tasting Dinner (67 Pall Mall): My #2 WOTN. Real grip here, real body, as well as a gentle spiciness on the nose. Lovely stuff.

Village Burgundy from Good Producers (67 Pall M): Another wine with great length, some venison and blackcurrant shortcake sweetness. Palate very well balanced and more-ish. Lovely wine.
