impenetrable deep dark carmine, inky, still youth looking. moderate nose (compare to mouth-feeling), dark fruits and cedar. intense opulent flavours, very well integrated fruity (jammy, dark plum) and cedar notes (mild oak, a little mint and herbal hints); fine grained tannins, still firm; very smooth texture, velvety; some warm and strength in the core with dark chocolate and cream notes. medium finish with vanilla and cream (both from new French and American barrels).
Amazing density, good structure with fruits and oak dimensions. a stunning Syrah from McLaren Vale, really big wine, though I expect more solid acidity to support the heavy body better, feel slightly flabby with the 2nd glass.
Alc 14.5%, enjoyable now, still have 3-5+ years to its peak. JH 94, JO 92, HH 85, Decanter 2011 Regional Trophy
