Medium red-garnet, muddy. Nose of cocoa powder, leather, faint suggestions of spearmint, cherry. On arrival, medium tannin and low acidity; quite dried out. A bit thin in the mouth rather than velvety or rounded texture; cocoa repeats. Dry finish, low-medium intensity. Bottle #2 of two.
Older Napa Cabs at Vin, Vino, Wine: Very nice, complex nose of cassis, cedar, cigar box, dried leaves, a beefy/savory aroma, and an unusual floral element. On the palate though, the fruit has just started to fade and there's a balance between the sweet and savory, but the tannin is not yet fully resolved. I don't think this has the fruit to outlast the remaining tannin. Finishes with a nice savory/foresty flavor. Quite nice for an aged cab.
