Have had this wine over 3 years, tonight drinking with same expansive palette as last 3 years. Shows minor sign of age, but still, sharp pungent, acidic nose, deeper, tobacco finish, with more tannins than you may want from Pinot. Color dark and vibrant. Good expression of Mendocino Pinot. Wild loomy soil, loomy, mosslike finish, deep earthy, forest, chocolate and licorice. Did I just write that? But true.
The second of the two bottles drunk some 18 months after the first. Not a lot has changed really. Deep cherry red in color, the nose perhaps the least enticing thing, some rather shy aromatics; bursts forth upon the palate however, upfront with dark cherry, bright acidity, some resinous quality, lengthy finish. It's uncomplicated but has content.
