Rather unimpressive - with mostly candied red and dark fruits, syrupy almost cloying texture, not enough structure and unfocused. This bottle did not seemed to be flawed so I am going to give it a score.
Full bodied but not ponderous Napa Cab. Smells like blackcurrant pie with vanilla, the palate buttressed by mocha and lifted by violets and pencil shavings on the medium-long, velvety finish. Double decanted and drinking great, and in no rush to hit the remainder.
Hoping the last bottle I had was slightly off but no such luck. Similar notes as before. Nice fruit up front (fairly deep/medium body), smooth mid palate, but the finish was tight. Decanted for one hour and drank over another two. Improved with time but I still believe this vintage needs to lay down a little longer. Drank next to a Lewelling St Helena 2011 and I thought the Lewelling was better even though 2011 was not a great year for Lewelling.
