(Not a) birthday dinner (Hinsdale, IL): The best bottle of this that I've had, and it even managed to surpass the Preuses tonight! Relatively lean, and unmistakably Chablis with its citrus-based acidity and heaps of clean minerality. Taut, mineral cut; clean and bright.

Sadly this beauty is on the downward slope. Although there were no signs of over-oxidation and the cork came out cleanly, The bright notes on the tongue that I recall are gone. The color was a slightly dull light yellow rather than a bright and gleaming straw.

Seventeenth Annual White Truffle Dinner (Hughes House - Chicago IL): Served alongside a Dauvissat Preuses 00/07/08 vertical. Good richness and mineral textures, this is certainly very enjoyable just slightly lacking the power or heft I typically find from this wine...which I've enjoyed more many times in the past. I will have to try a bottle from my cellar some time soon.

Heaters (Chicago, IL): This second bottle wasn't good either. There was a waxy thing, and way too much browned fruit (especially in comparison to the Raveneau, and the first corked bottle) for it to be possibly considered correct. As an aside, this had some of those green notes from 2004 -- I had originally thought the problems were confined to the reds, but I've noticed it now and again in the white wines as well. A real disappointment here, even though I'm not a fan of Dauvissat to begin with.
