Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 89 points

  • White Burgundy tasting (@ Rotterdam, Netherlands): A very light straw-coloured core with bright golden highlights kicks off proceedings for the day. Despite barely medium-minus intensity, precise notes of limes, Granny smith apples & carnations liven up the mineral base of Serein clay. Medium-plus bodied, this underrated 1er Cru is sufficiently extracted to fully buffer its pronounced acidity. On the mid-palate, beyond medium intense flavours of lemon, grapefruit and lively cretaceous minerals cut through a fatty clay foundation and if there’s a small nit to pick, it would have to be a slight phenolic leftover from a partial fermentation on mostly used pièces. The finish does an intense 20-25 seconds already and so, 89 points are in order with a considerable upside of as much as three points. I’ll try again in five years.......... TN Mike de Lange.
