While this is a well made and in many ways great wine, the excessive use of oak is finally taking its toll. Dominated by wood and vanilla tones, the fruit is desperately trying to sing in the background. It is simply not in balance. This wine was truly amazing in its youth and 10 years onwards, but I fear it is now on its way to fall apart due to fading fruit and dominance of oak – like many other "modern style" Barolos from 2004. Drink up if you have any bottles left! 91-

Another great Barolo from my beloved Renato Ratti: earth, leather, note of strawberry, cedar, dried fig, ripe cherries, spicey note, medium to full body, soft chewy tannins, superb long finish!

Fabulous wine with food. No browning, just a watery rim. Intense aromas of violets and cherries. Rounded mouthfeel in a Barolo context. A little tar at the beginning of the long aftertaste. Excellent wine.

Duft av gammelt treverk, nøst og tjære, samt modne kirsebær. Fine tanniner, drikker bra nå.
