Ripe, rich, dark in colour, good intensity of dark fruit, not overly extracted. Good balance actually and no secondary aroma's yet. Just a hint of South African smoke, but not disturbing. A beautiful wine that is comparable to a good medoc from a riper vintage, but with sufficient acidity to keep it all together. The smoke touch gives this a sense of place.
Monthly tasting club LTC; a mixed set (Marco's): In the bouquet dark forest fruits, some red fruits and minerals, vanilla and a bit rustic. On the palate ripe and juicy dark forest fruits like cassis, sweet spices, some minerals, good acidity and round tannin with still a good bite. Ready now and it can last until 2018+ as well.
Enjoyed. Very ripe but not over the top. Nice sour cherry/plum throughout, with smooth silky tannin. Dark chocolate notes which are quite pleasant. Dark fruited profile. Definitely new worldly. Balanced well. Purchased at close out for $30. Was a little concerned about storage secondary to not being stored in controlled area and although cork was dry, the wine wasnt tainted or off. 15% etoh but no heat.
