I admit objectivity is difficult with this wine. We had this on the last night of a 10 day SA trip. That said, I don't agree with the 10 hour decant others noted. I opened and poured and it was excellent. Complemented our porterhouse steaks nicely. Very smooth and did improved over two hour drinking window.
Associates Wine Dinner (Our House): I have not always enjoyed Fusion V. This time I followed the reviews on CT and decanted for almost 10 hours and it was a great improvement. Clearly this wine needs the air. Full bodied (tannins 7/10) with dark fruit and well balanced. The 5 varietals are in balance with none overpowering the other. If I had used the formal scoring, I think it would be closer to a 95. I will try some tomorrow and see.
Associates' Forum Wine Dinner (Sean Ballington's Home, Great Falls, VA): Had been decanted for 10 hours prior to tasting. The most powerful wine in the tasting; could smell it with the glass almost at full arm's length. Would probably benefit from quite a bit more age. Still quite enjoyable - especially if you like your wine a little rambunctious. This is a caged beast of a wine.
