  • Records not handy. Bought 6b, likely under 15/b, from a local independent shop about 20 years ago; this is #3. Decanted with normal sediment for its age. Wide amber edge with a ruby core; some very mature red fruit, some tea, hint of molasses that follow on the palate, good mouthfeel. The fruit was long faded, but this was pleasant and mildly interesting. Camedia and Kirk probably had it right years ago, but... As an experiment after an initial glass, I blended it with a good quality, everyday fruit-forward (FF) '15 Zin (some Italian connection, though non-Tusc) that we've found far too FF--first 50/50, then 60/40 (zin)--and both were better for it. IMO, it was critical that the Luce weakness was faded fruit, not oxidized flavor. For now, we'll enjoy the marriage! Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: For me, scores on a "100-point scale" are misleading. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. At this stage, this is only drinkable on its own when considering quality, age, and price; but the marriage is notable+--better than either one alone.

  • A Christmas Tasting in Maine (Bangor, Maine): Tasted from Magnum this showed a lovely perfume of forest floor, earth, funk, with dried fruits & flowers. Unfortunately this wine is beyond it's prime and has fallen in the mouth as it's limp and a bit harsh on the finish. If you have this it needs to be consumed

  • not very interesting...ok day to day, but nothing special...better than a lot of Italian wines that I have tryed lately

  • Garnet at most; leafy , italianate, blackcurrant pastilles, not obvious; Tannic, fleshy mid palate, rigid finish. Needs time if tannins are to be resolved. extÕd. 14
