  • Final bottle from a 3 pack. Last had this wine about 4 yrs ago.
Part of the grapes used to make this wine are left to shrivel and dry on the vine before harvest, resulting in tons of extract and an almost-black color.
Deep and earthy, burnt tar and campfire embers, black pepper and espresso grounds.
Black fruits like black cherry compote and some prunes round out the palate.
Great with chili this evening. A serious and brooding wine.
Slightly lacking in acidity this evening, but overall a very good and interesting wine, when paired with hearty fare. Drink up.

  • Odd, weird wine, high VA and funky smelling on opening, it ended up being one-dimensional, plummy fruit and a sack of bricks full of alcohol over the head. I’ll skip Lacrima next time. Really crappy QPR.

  • Very high alcohol and pitch black color. Very deep cherry core and some brush and funk. It tastes like a california syrah. Not my cup of tea, but for someone who like BIG wines this may work

  • 2nd of 3 bottles.
On the nose, burnt embers, black cherry pit, and prunes are lifted by juniper and mint.
On the palate, blackberry liqueur, black cherry, kirsch, and menthol.
The finish is long and interesting, with a refreshing tension and surprising acidity for 16.5% abv.
    Drink now through 2020+.

  • Nose - per Dan - fruit loops, per me drambuie
Mouth - high alcohol, not particularly refreshing, slightly herbal, bitter and somewhat astringent, smells much better than it tastes. Minutes later I'm still getting grappa on the finish.
