Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Medium red color with some thinning at the rim. Medium transparency. Aromas of smoke, brimstone, leather, and red fruits. On the palate, this shows tart, sour cherry, smoke, leather, and licorice. Medium finish with barrel tannins showing. Another point that proves the rule that I don't like 1997s from Oregon. Drinkable, but missing some important pieces for overall pleasure for this palate.

Day two postscript: tannins resolved a bit and the fruit held in there without oxidizing. This was improved almost to a point where I'd admit liking it on day two. Decant ahead if you drink now. Still think this is not long for the cellar - drink before 2015.
