  • Reticent red fruit and menthol on the nose - I'm fighting a head cold this weekend, so discount my comments on the nose accordingly.

Lively and balanced on the palate, with good acidity for lift. Nice length on the finish - this is clearly mature at this time, but no decline in sight, so feel free to drink or hold.

  • From a bottle opened last night.

Similar in color to the Conterno; ripe nose of red & black fruits - a little diffuse on the nose.

Once again, decent acidity to give the ripe red & black fruit some "lift" on the palate - this is showing very well right now, although admittedly a step behind the Monprivato and Conterno in overall complexity - still, no slouch here, and drinking very well at this point.

  • Still murky at the core, lightening out to translucent ruby on the rim. Nice red-fruited nose, menthol accents, but still primary.

Ripe red fruits, adequate acidity, nice persistence on the finish, with a little tannic nip - this was our least favorite wine tonight, but by itself it's still quite nice, and just got overshadowed by the "company".

  • Stil youthful and primary, but certainly approachable. More on the meaty-muscular side of Nebbiolo, with broad shoulders juxtaposed with a soft inner core of fruit. Surprisingly supple, deep , and very well balanced. Texturally outstanding and very well balanced. Darker fruits, tar, and a brooding inner perfume that draws you in. Very long. Early peak and outstanding. While it's no crime to drink this now, I will hold my next bottle for 3-4 years, and would have no fear of a decade plus. Very enjoyable. 93 pts

  • Darker translucent ruby at the core, lightening out to brick on the rim.

Cherry fruit, menthol and spices on a somewhat reticent nose - this was just popped & poured, so a little air might do it some good. Very nice attack on the palate, sweet red fruits to start, sweet & sour cherry fruit on the finish - 15 years old, and yet still drinking very primary right now. I don't have many left, but I think this will still be nice in 2028.
