These has evolved well since having last 2 years ago, and showing why it's much different with a little age. The fruit was a little subdued, but reached the surface more and more after a few hours. A really nice nose and flavors of mushroom, earth, cherries. I'd suggest to drink now and over the next 3 years.
Been a while since I drink one of these, and IMO, it has not improved. On the contrary, it had some green notes on open that were off. I decanted for close to an hour and it improved. While there is more complexity with soft spices and minerals (and paired well with our pesto-based meal), the fruit seems to be more subdued than when it was young. Still a very good wine, med-full body, good acidity for food. In fact, it needs food.
I hope it is in an awkward stage, as I miss the excellent fruit from my first bottle years ago. I will wait a while before the next one and make sure I decant for the full hour.
Concentrated colour of deep red/purple. Ripe red fruits on a concentrated aromatic nose with mushroom, pine forest spice, and light pipe tobacco smoke. Dry on the palate with exquisite balance of acid and integrated tannins. Flavours of raspberry, cherry, and earth that linger for a nice finish that is smoky and with subtle spice. Very nice wine, and drinking wonderfully!
An amazing bottle and far better that earlier tastings. Especially the oak has integrated nicely and the fruit is also wide open now. Medium-bodied and fresh, full of elegance and finesse this wine drinks beautifully now. Don't regret buying a case of these.
