Initially very tight and somewhat tart. Bright red fruits (cherry, strawberry) with an earthy/brambly character and a hint of leather on the nose. Medium-bodied and lean with drying tannins, sharp edges and a short to medium finish. Takes on some body and weight and reveals floral aromas. with airtime, but not enough to change its overall character which was a bit too angular and harsh for my palate.
Good solid Chianti. If it is drunk in its current youth it benefits in decanting as indicated on the bottle label. It is just beginning to open up and show a lot of its hidden character. It still has bright fruit and a nice relatively long finish and acidity that is balanced and shows it will be strong for quite a few years more.
