Outstanding. Has some familiar very ripe blackberry Languedoc aromas and near Banyuls-like flavors. Tannins are fully resolved and so well integrated. Not a trace of VA; too bad that others had problematic bottles. Wish we had more.

Difficult to define. Unique. Structured, with big, unresolved tannins. Complex. Black cherry and florals, with tons of exotic spices. Touch of VA :( At least has little added SO2. Glad it is now out of my cellar.

This is a wine that certainly will be outside outside the comfort zone of the casual wine drinker, and even of many or perhaps most serious wine drinkers as well. Now ultimately I will say that I like this wine. But if you told me I couldn't drink any other bottles until I drank six of these I would say, "That's not the kind of "like" I am talking about." It's unusual, it makes you wonder why it is what it is, it evolves. It is even tasty - to me - but it isn't a delicious tasty at all. The wife says it's tasty but she does not want to smell it.
Garnet red with developing an orange meniscus. Huge funkitude upon opening - soil tones but not barnyardy. Once it gets a little air, bouquet of lingonberry, dark cherry, rhubarb pie, allspice, cardamon, dried pungent herbs, wheat germ. Full bodied and bulbous fruit mouthfeel without being fruity, in fact rather lean on the backside with an almost arugula green bite.
Probably best if opened with another wine geek to disect and discuss together. I've mulled over it for half a bottle, but now I want to go open something pretty.
