Really funky straight out of the bottle. After half an hour the pigsty nose has transformed into sweaty bus driver. After an hour or so more the bouquet shows some if the wines true potential. Red and black fruits, vegetal notes, nice tannins. Day two it is even better. Drank with rosemary and garlic lamb, worked like a charm.

A bit of southern funk and bordeaux pig-sty at first. Understated oak spicyness, cloves, walnuts and garrigue. The dark plum and forest berry fruits are perfectly mature and mingles really well together. Quite elegant taste with good balance, body and freshness. Smooth, almost luxurious mouthfeel. A hit with our guests and a hit with the prunes stuffed porc loin (some rosemary and thyme in there too). Mourvèdre, grenache, carignan. Upbringing in barriques for the mourvèdre, the rest in tank.

Vinik "outlet" tasting: This just might be the best wine in the Vinik "outlet" tasting. Lots of ripe fruit and garrigue, impeccable balance and well-integrated spicy oak treatment. Still on the young side, it could do with one to five years of cellaring, but would also perform very well on any table today. Judging from the speed the bottles empty, this most definitely is a public winner. Château Bousquette farm five hectares of vines, organically tended since 1972. The harvest yield for this cuvée is 25 hl/ha. L'Absolu is brought up during one year in barriques for the mourvèdre, and in tanks for the grenache and carignan.

It has really come together now, with everything exactly in the right place. Funky, sure, but harmonious and multi layered.
