So happy I tried this again. For whatever reason, this struck me even better the second time. Delicious Pinot fruit and very charachteristic of the Willamette Valley. Shockingly good for $5.99. Back to the store tomorrow for a few more to have on hand as a nice guilt free pleasure.
Still just a very basic entry level Pinot, however we found the proper use for it... served chilled on a warm muggy evening with some stuffed mushroom caps. I never drink cold reds, but this one just seemed appropriate that way, like a darker rose.

Unscrewed and poured. Drank over 3 evenings. Light colored and light bodied - even for an OR Pinot. This was a funny wine. On the first evening it showed OK with modest red fruits and a bit of earth and mushroom notes for interest. On the 2nd evening it took a turn for the worse, showing oxidized notes that dominated. Par for the $6 price. For grins, I saved a glass for the 3 evening and it zagged, losing the oxidation on the nose and replacing it with slightly more of the earthy notes that made it interesting on the 1st evening. Docked it a few points for the bow-wow 2nd day.
Not sure if it works as an cheap weekday sipper. Got one more bottle to try.

Complimentary Bottle we drank at our hotel in Portland. It was okay for being an inexpensive price point of $6.99 retail

So well worth the $5.99 I paid.
