This wine was decanted and drank over two hours. I would have guessed this was a right bank bordeaux w some merlot/cab fanc but apparently it's 100% cab. The structure/acidity is bracing and requires food to balance. Plenty of red/purple fruit buried beneath acidity, probably not enjoyable as a sipper. A long life ahead.
--- COLOR: Opaque garnet with med-garnet rim NOTE: I just am not getting the wow factor that everyone else here seems to get. It's well-made and enjoyable, but nothing extraordinary and I don't see it becoming anything more than what it is today. Is this the emperor's new clothes? The nose has a lot of beautiful black berry fruits and leather/spice/tar, but it also has some off-putting heat (even a bit of nail polish). The mouth is nicely balanced between the tobacco and fruit, but the finish is a bit too tannic and astringent and the fruit dies off. I suppose that could improve with time, but not by much. This is disappointing for the price point.
