Dyp mørk mursteinsrød, nesten svart i midten, mer ørlite lillaskjær. Lukter intents mørke tørkede bær og litt røyk. Utrolig intens og kraftig smak av dominert sorte bær. Lett søtlig. Solbær og kirsebær. Utrolig lang ettersmak.
No formal notes, but this was drinking fairly similarly to my bottle two years ago. I would note though that tonight it had more forward alcoholic impression, primarily on the finish, which did detract fairly significantly from the enjoyment. Even still, this is a decadent, lush wine and the flavors are absolutely delicious. I just wish it wasn't so spicy and alcoholic, or this could see mid 90s.
Compared to the '01 drank along side it, this is quite a bit softer in complexion. Aromas show cracked pepper, floral notions, and candied fruit. Smells pretty awesome, actually, with a bit of elegance. Lighter and leaner texture on the palate compared to the '01 as well, with a nice deep concentration of really nice clove. Quite elegant for an Amarone. Very deep finish, with pepper spice. Still too much alcohol detected throughout, but the least of the four Amarones we had despite the highest listed alcohol at 17%.This does feel fairly tightly wound. Good acidity lingering, with tartness. I'll try to open another in 2-3 years.
