I love this wine, and I love this vintage. We bought multiple bottles at their winery on Spring Mtn 8 years ago. We had an amazing tasting with Willinda McCrea, one of the owners at the time and daughter of the founder. It's one of the prettiest properties in the Napa Valley, or anywhere for that matter. This is a beautifully balanced wine, reflecting winemaker (since retired) Mike Chelini's style: leaner, and more delicate - it's aged in neutral oak barrels - and there's no butter here! Rather, the fruit shines through, acid is lively, and there's underlying minerality. It's a terrific food wine, and paired beautifully with roasted chicken/root veggies. We've had probably 6 bottles of this vintage at different points in its evolution. We've loved every bottle. It's built to age, and I'm pleased that at 13 years old, it's drinking superbly. For our palates, Cali Chard doesn't get much better.

Pale yellow color. Has that minty note of ripe Chardonnay (I also often find this in Meursault), alongside a grilled pineapple kind of thing. Could use a notch more acidity for my palate. Good stuff overall, and excellent pairing for BBQ chicken.
Not as good as past bottles of SH Chard I have had.

The SH Chardonnays always get an almond-y flavor as they age and usually this is a good part of the overall package. The 2009s I have had so far have been remarkably disappointing though. Too flabby, too dark and too advanced for their age. Three bottles down the sink so far.

Vanilla and white flowers, lemon lime, and just the right amount of acidity. Balanced with a good finish Unfortunately bit of celery and green pepper in the background. Enjoyable nonetheless.
