Cork was soaked all the way through and there was some funky black stuff on the outside of the cork. Dried wine I guess. Whether it was a little bottle variation or my mood, I enjoyed this more than the bottle I had back in June. This one showed decent depth and complexity and also showed some sangiovese character albeit in a more modern style. Ann loved it once again. I recommend decanting for an hour or so though.
PnD let air for 2hrs. Dark purple with violet to clear rim. Ripe black fruits espresso and dark chocolate on the nose with a touch of earth. Medium weight with very polished tannins. Cassis blackberry coulis fig paste licorice and coffee flavours. Very ripe but with balancing acidity and a mineral and savoury element to add complexity. Great stuff.
