  • A lovely wine in every way this 2004 Sauzet is pristine with a pale green gold colour and a fresh nose of white stone fruits, pear, white flowers, hazelnuts and touches of honey. The palate is classic Puligny with lovely stone fruits, lemon drops, honey and nuts balanced by a piercing minerality and grip. Delicious and a reminder of what White Burgundy should be at 14 years of age.

  • Second bottle in the last couple of months, both excellent. Nose was an expressive combination of flowers and fruit. Palate was laser like with a combination of fruit, minerals and good acidity. Full palate and long finish. Hoping my remaining bottles will be this good, but will not push the limit on time.

  • Moderate yellow; lovely yellow flowers aromatics coming from the glass; peach pit, lemon curd, rocky limestony minerality; delicate with slight creamy yogurty component; super silky, soft, little bit of weight but elegant, perfect lift of acid in the back end with a moderately long finish. Really classy. 92-93.

  • Very lean almost to the point of lacking fruit. Lots of lemon/lime green fruit. A bit awkward. This was excellent on release. Maybe off bottle.

  • My bottle was a bit disappointing. It did not express the terroir of the 04 vintage I was expecting. The nose was shy perhaps. Aftertaste had some nuts initially but it turned into a sour sour taste by end of the night (2 hours later). The richness and finesse of the Sauzet style was present. Perhaps an odd bottle.

(Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ-Canet) Might be going into a dumb period. Had blind with two other good Chardonnays - medium gold color; butter and tart lemon nose; lemon, oak, mineral, a little disjointed; medium finish

(Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ-Canet) Nice light oatmeal and mineral nose; tasty, lemon cream with good acidity, seamless fruit and lime edges; medium creamy finish 91+ pts.

(Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ-Canet) Light nose that reveals more oak as it sits in the glass; very creamy, tight at the moment, but hints of minerals and good length 92+ pts.
