Opens very promisingly with herbal aromas, soy, chocolate, and dark fruits. Full body, med/low acidity, mildly tannic, ripe dark fruits and very oaky (coffee and vanilla) on the finish. Negative time derivative: oak dominates more on nose and palate as it opens up. Really good wine and tasty overall, just in a style where eventually vanilla and barrel spice cover some very nice fruit material.

Smooth, consistent notes of earthy, peppery oak with subtle hints of tannins. As the wine opens up there are undertones of spicy currant with an extended overbite.
