Truffled earth nose, very strong. Beautiful construction in the middle with austere fruit but then gets a little stemmy and funky at the end. Finishes very dry (like tannin, but not teeth-drying).

Popped and poured just because we needed a little more red wine. Very tight petrochemical cork. A medium+ garnet in the glass with color out to the edges. Ripe dark cherry and dark plum with forest floor, underbrush and alcohol. Very good+ intensity and concentration, with leather, medium dark chocolate, and some minerality joining the fray. Our last bottle, and I'd say this is just past peak, but still enjoyable for what it is. Lots of sediment. Glad to have newer vintages of this solid wine.

I just discovered (unfortunately) a half case of this wine buried in the back of my cellar. I vaguely remember it being good when young, but it is now way over the proverbial hill. It tasted quite oxidized, even though the "cork" was plastic, and the fill was still almost to the cork (1/4 inch !). The color was still dark purple. I don't understand why this wine has aged so badly.
This one is done. Gone. Nose was sort of fudgey and figgy. Not terrible. Color was way gone, clearing at the edges. Still medium bodied but flavors were going south, into the land of cough syrup. Good cough syrup, but not wine I want to drink.

Wow a ton of Vanilla still on the nose.. like smelling vanilla extract. It's over the hill (stored passively) but still vinous.
Did not age well at all. The oak chips no bueno.
