It just blows my mind that this is as good as it is so far from its suggested drinking window. Is it Stelvin magic? Pronounced red cherry flavors with undertones of cola dominate this simple but tasty profile. Hell, I don’t even think it’s done yet. Just shows what good cellaring and a little luck will do. Thanks Brian!

Purchased in library sale during April 2016. Color of medium red, and the edges looked fine. Scents of raspberry, red cherry and cola. Tastes were consistent with scents, and, surprisingly, this did not taste like a faded 12-year-old wine, but, instead, it had a nice taste and good mouth feel.

Who used to have a sig line that said "Let your Lorings Age?" Well, I did. The last one of these, with a really sparse tasting note, was 5 years ago. Popped and poured. Strong sharp cherry and gobs of pinot funk (a/k/a, to some, cola) with nice spiciness. Great clarity of tast and clear color. This does not seem like 5 years of age on top of my early tastes of 2004 Loring Pinot. My guess is that the screw cap has reduced the aging process, leading to a fresher wine that if it were under cork.

Last year's bottle was good.
This bottle, however, was certainly past it's prime.

A surprisingly ample amount of fruit for the vintage. Balanced and layered. This should continue to drink well for a couple more years.
