Opened by Allred last weekend when Eyesintime was in town. Deep red color without any noticeable bricking. This did not show signs that it was fading. An earthy nose. Notes of spices, mint, oranges and raw meat. Steely texture. Quite enjoyable now. Not as good as the 1995 vintage that I had back in 2008 but an admirable effort for a below average vintage. 92 points.
Post-holiday dinner w/eyesintime (Anvil Club): Double decanted very briefly off its sediment and back into the bottle a couple of hours before dinner. Fairly youthful looking with a dark core and no bricking. Aromas of cherry, orange zest, cinnamon, tarragon, minerals and florals. Cherry, currant, mineral and forest floor flavors with a long finish. Develops a terrific meaty note with more time in the glass. Well-balanced and integrated, this is drinking very well now and should hold for a few years yet. 94+ pts.
