  • Fully mature at this point. Hint of sour cherry on the start, resolving to deep caramel flavor and a mark of acidity. Paired well with Iberico Pork paella.

  • Even better than my last bottle two years ago. Perfectly mature classic Rioja with fine elegant acids, sweet red fruit with balsamic syrup edges, and light cedary wood notes. Fine, elegant and beautiful. Paired with a pheasant broth and pasta noodles. Loved it.

  • The cork came out intact using the Durand corkscrew so that was nice. This is a mid orange-red color, pale and clear. Very fragrant floral nose with leather and spice. Highly acidic as expected but it went well with my ossobuco which had enough richness to carry it. I didn’t decant this more than 15 minutes before dinner because I was worried about it falling off, but that has not been the case. Elegant and fine and needs food to show at best. Pork, veal, or even salmon would do well. We kept drinking this after dinner and some sour cherry flavors appeared too. This drank well til end of bottle

  • Almost tart. Quite acidic. Oxidized color. Red-orange, with maroon at the core. Very little fruit at first, with plenty of copper on opening. As it unfolded, the metallic gave way to earth, orange oil, unripe stone fruit, and subtle tart cherry. Delicious old wine. Not remarkable, but definitely hits the spot for old rioja.

  • Mature Rioja tasting at The Sampler (The Sampler, South Kensington): More classic mature Rioja nose. Fireside, leather and a touch of caramel. A little tighter and with a bit more acidity on the finish. A little thin I parts perhaps, not quite enough to cover it, but holds well with air, the Graciano giving a bit of florality and bite in the palate. Not bad considering. A little flat and one dimensional, but this feels less apparent with air. ***
