This wine keeps singing of the homeland, and if you can't afford or have time for a trip to the Rhone, just open a bottle of this, here is garrigue, locale, sweet grenache, a roundness and fullness that is pure joy. Will keep, surely, 5+ years, but why wait? (with Pacalet at CP)
Very well stored bottle. Double decanted for half an hour and drunk across 60 mins. Lovely and powerful nose of dark cherry and blackcurrant fruit, with prominent leather and hints of garrigue / herbs. Certainly no brett. Much of the same on the palate although with touches of liquorice emerging over time. Very enjoyable and no issue with another 5 years plus given how the fruit remains at the forefront. Not a wine to intellectualise over, but one to enjoy greatly with food (a porterhouse steak was perfect). ****

(Domaine de Pegau Chateauneuf-du-Pape) Closed but phenomenal wine. This nose brought the funk. Barnyard city that developed into beautiful cherry liquor. Incredibly floral and super high-toned. Acacia, roses, even violets after a while. Blueberries and boysenberries showed up too. Kept changing and changing. Massive palate with layers upon layers of dense black cherry, red cherry and sweet, ripe tannins. Long finish. Tannic - - yes . . . but still a monumental wine.
