  • Deep color. Nose of blueberry, pepper, smoked game, olive, hints of sage. On the palate, rich and dense, with gobs of fruit mostly blue and black, black olive, herbs, and vanilla. Long finish with enough cut to balance the fruit. Drink of hold, it will change but probably not get much better than this.

  • Nice bottle brought by Mindy & Al to taste alongside the SQN. Though this is a Syrah and the SQN was a Grenache, knowing the history of Maggie Harrison's tenure as an assistant at SQN made it easy to see (or imagine?) the connection. Pop and pour and enjoyed over 2 hours. Dark red to rim. Rich ripe fruit, full body, nice balance seamless palate feel, long finish, outstanding.

  • Looking back at my note from Feb '13, not a whole lot has changed. This is still compact and keeping things very close to the vest - but as before, I do like what I see. In the moments the cork was first pulled, the nose and palate had little to offer. By the one hour mark, it was slowly unfolding. It wasn't until the last glass, more than 2 hours into it, that it really signaled what it was made of. Trim and fit, as opposed to thick and muscled, this one's got good tannic and acidic structure to see this another 7-8 years; HOLD for another 3-4 years, needs time to build on its foundation of complexity. 15,2% abv. (resolved) recommended

PnP; served non-blind and followed over 2+ hrs (best to aerate in decanter at LEAST 90 minutes if serving anytime during the next few years.

  • Dark kirsch liquor, blackberry and meat. Drinks well after 20-30 min of air and doesn't look back. I'd drink up over the next few years, the tannins are well integrated and is in a good place right now. Would be much happier at a 50-60 price point however.

  • Decanted for a few hours then consumed over an hour. Tonight the wine was spectacular. Big yet balanced mouthfeel with many nuanced primary and secondary flavors. One of the best bottles of Lillian I've had.
