(Weingut von Hövel Oberemmeler Hütte Riesling Spätlese) A pale, lemon-golden colour. On the nose, intense limes, quite mineral, with a lot of very incisive fruit and a slightly leafy edge. Rich and rounded on the palate, with firm minerally lime at first, then broadening out and relaxing a little, but remaining always very fresh ad well defined. Good body and weight, and a fine length. There is clearly plenty of potential for the future here.

(Weingut von Hövel Oberemmeler Hütte Riesling Spätlese) This delightful, richly coloured wine opens up very nicely over an hour or two in the glass. The fruit characteristics are very vibrant and fresh at first, showing some intense, lime aromas, but it very quickly moves into something broader and more reminiscent of honey on toast. There are little floral elements too, but also a slow revealing of petrolly elements too, over a light, musky note. The palate shows the fleshy weight I hoped for, supple and more gentle than expected, with a nice grip and a little sense of pith to the fruit. Sappy and very long in the finish, where it shows fleeting suggestions of caramel density. Occasionally little flourishes of crunchy acid too. This is delicious, and still full of potential.
