Dark plum and cherries in the nose. On the palate dark cherries, blackcurrant, plum and some dark pepper. Medium+ bodied with a medium- acidity. Great depth and structure. Finish is medium long and has some licorice notes. Although I really enjoyed this one it doesn’t belong to my favorite Australian Shiraz. Drink now or until 2035. About 6,000 bottles were produced.

Kaesler wine-tasting (Watson's, Hong Kong): Their big one! An 1893 Shiraz block, yielding 1.5 to 2 tons per acre, raised in 100% new oak. Alcohol 14.5%. 500 cases made every year. Concentrated, smokey nose - lots of layers here. Dark fruit - plum and blackcurrants. Seems quite feminine and subtle. Fairly closed at the moment though.

Too much of everything, no balance and no refinement.
Trop de tout. 86-87

Way too big and out of balance. This need lots more time and I am not even sure it will ever get into equilibrium.

Langton's Classification Tasting (Carraigeworks, Sydney): Raspberry and redcurrant with cedar and charcoal. Great balance - it is big and intense but there is detail that doesn't get overwritten. Great texture and length.
