  • My fourth and final bottle of this vintage. The first one was dreadful, the second one was stellar, the third one and this one were...meh. Decent fruit and finish, but - overall - it was flat and dull.

  • I'm never gonna figure this wine out. Tremendous bottle variation and/or peaks and valleys in its maturation. A bottle just three months ago was terrific, but this one was merely OK. 30 to 60 minutes after opening, it was decent at best. A couple hours later, it had opened up, showing an unusual "creamy" characteristic - kinda like a raspberry parfait. Pleasant, but a little weird and not exactly food-friendly.

  • I'm never gonna figure out this wine. A bottle about a year ago was flat and "muddy", as were several (but not all) from earlier vintages. This one, with all of 20 minutes of breathing time, was borderline outstanding. Very asserive nose that just screamed cassis. Great fruit on the palate. Rich, with a stellar finish. Although they're not tannic monsters, DuBrul cabernets seem to really need extensive time in the bottle, more than the drinking range shown here and in numerous reviews. Kind of remind me of Spottswoodes in that respect, albeit at 1/3 or 1/4 the price.

  • I dpn't really like being an outlier, but... While I may well have held onto these too long according to CellarTracker's Drink By date, I'm still disappointed. It still shows plenty of structure and adequate fruit, but otherwise, it's "muddy", for want of a better descriptor. Reminds me most of the 2009 DuBrul, which had the same unpleasant characteristic. The fruit is chocolate-covered cherries and some raspberries, and it's fairly rich, with a solid finish, but...
