We could not but order this especially as it was priced well and an impossible wine to find these days. We are big lovers of GdP and we do consider it the best wine of the area . The wine is definitely old and past its best and we are sure bottle variation here must be every high. Soft, tertiary, leathery, savory wine with all the hallmarks of age. Well behaved and healthy but just in that old age phase and definitely at the end of its journey. 91

Smell like a well aged northern rhone, black pepper notes abundant. Tannins have fully resolved but not much fruit left to lend palate weight. There's a weird sour note at the finish. Not bad not great

Some voices are casting doubt upon the place of La Grange des Pères as one of the great wines of Languedoc. I have no experience of recent vintages but I consider this bottle one of my best so far this year. Made from a cocktail of Mourvèdre (nearly 50% of plantings), Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, it is medium++ bodied with a silky texture showing mature plum tinged fruit, a lot of underlying roundness, touches of forest floor, streaks of game and balsam, fresh acidity, firm backbone and long finish. It is quite classical in shape with a Musar like elegance but without quite that oriental seductiveness and it revealed new facets to the last drop. Excellent.

I did not like the nose... could not figure it out. But what a wine on the palate! Very impressive. Could beat a Bordeaux GC hands down. Overpriced within the region, though.
