Fantastically danky! Unexpected surprise. And a great price point. Lightly stinky barnyard nose, dusty earthy palate. A little bit of an edge to it, but a good cheese pairing will cut that down nicely.

Mature. Brambly nose with red fruit tones and tar, subtle clove and baking spice. Smooth on the pallete with creamy blackberry fruit and earthy herb flecked flavors emerging mid-pallete, then raspberry fruit fills in on the short to medium long finish where the tannins are slightly dry. Good wine, doesnt hit the next level though. Drink now through 2016-17. Bottle cellared in a temp controlled cellar since purchase.

Pre-Super Tasting Lunch (Terroni, Toronto, Canada): Popped and poured, followed for about 30 minutes, as this was a late addition. Deep purple in the glass. Certainly the most expressive wine of the meal, but whether one may like the characteristics is another story. Out of the gates, this was a little strange, but settled down, showing some dark fruits, blueberries, lavender, violets, white pepper, citrus peel and a touch of leather. On the palate, this is a big wine, but much more streamlined than the previous wine, with tastes of blueberry, dried flowers, pepper and citrus rounding out the moderate length finish. I prefer the 2007 vintage of this wine, but this was still quite enjoyable off the list.

Hibiscus floral, dark loam, baking spice. Soft and velvety, juicy medium plus body, tart cherry with dried notes, bright acid spike and jamaica (hibiscus beverage). (**)

Pronounced nose of violets and chocolate. Very enticing. Somewhat empty on the palate but a tangy, tasty finish. Perhaps a little overpriced at $18.
