3hr decant. Inky black color. Dark berry nose with distinct meat and earth. Very full bodied chunky dark fruit. Tight tannins, sharp youthful profile. Solidly good wine that should not be touched for at least 2, perhaps 5 years. Do I think it merits the WA 99? No. But WS might have nailed it. Not yet. Later. 95
Having shared a case with a friend but never tried, we were curious to see how it performed in some very distinguished company (Rayas 01, Sassicaia 06, GPL 05, Lopez Tondonia GR 94 etc), tight nose, mint, garringue, very good balance on the palate, sweetish bitter after taste, approachable now 93+
A Capella - Best Bottle (Engadin Valley, Switzerland): Tar, black berries, licorice, herbs, very warm, high but fairly well integrated alcohol. Really powerful and Long. classic CdP nose. Good but with dinner and next to the elegant Pingus-00 and HB-82 it felt a bit overindulgent and boring and too sweet.
My goodness - this magical elixir is a candidate for perfection. The power, purity, and precision were evident when we pulled the cork. We got raspberry compote, crushed stones, menthol and it was all still evolving after 2 hrs in the decanter. This tops any '10 that we have had thus far (have not yet tried the Clos des Papes) and compares favorably against any of the '07's as well. This Cuvee Papet CdP 2010 is a special wine with a long life ahead.
