VINTAGE 2010 Dinner (Galletto Ristorante, Modesto Ca.): Didn't spend too much time with this one...got a velvet smooth mouthful of dark blackberry fruit, dry fine tannin, ton of black olive tapenade, not much pepper spice...some va heat noticed...backwoods smoke, garrigue. Seems pretty mellow and monolithic right now...maybe more time will awaken. Didn't help the 10 Rayas was in the room as well.

A heady, thermonuclear wine that I am not supposed to like. But its only real flaw other than sheer size is some noticeable alcohol in the finish. Otherwise it is developing nicely, balanced for what it is, highly complex in a mature Pegau sort of way. Not wanting to drink this every day, but a wine that works well with a 2lb tomahawk pork chop and a pot of spicy collards.

A complex, evolving nose of red cherries and black fruit, some lavender and black licorice as well. After a half-four decant to soften the tannins - the medium-weight black fruited body still held a strong tannic and menthol spine. The finish was very long, with the tannins segueing into a very mineral finish. I selected this wine to hold up to a blackened steak dinner, and hold up, it did…

Highly structured, spicy ripe bright fruit, perfumed lavender, grippy tannins but not overwhelming, medium finish. Early stages of prime drinking window. The somewhat choppy finish is holding this back to being a great wine, a couple more years should cure this.

Agree with Eric Guido's note. This wine is still quite young. It is a structured, deep CdP with a long life in front of it. Excellent!
