Kirsch, puerh tea, molasses, wild game, herbes de provence, loam. Medium-plus bodied with medium-plus acidity and plenty of punch. Finish is dry with mouthcoating tannins. Drink with your protein of choice, grilled or roasted, and stand up the bottle in advance to make sure to let any fine sediment collect at the bottom. A lot of work for a Cotes du Rhone, but it is certainly a lot of wine for not a lot of money. FWIW, it might even best Coudoulet for half the price. Drink now to 2022+.
This was somewhat thin and not particularly interesting on the first night. Two days later it had filled out and showed great notes of garrigue, red fruits and white pepper. Would have rated it a 91 based on this night alone. Will keep next bottle for several more years.
