  • I have been fortunate enough to have had this a couple of times and it really is a good wine. It is still very fresh with an aroma of black earth, smoked meats, black tea and freshly grated ginger. It is fine and lacy in the mouth with plenty of meat and flora nuance. It finishes with bright, minerally acidity and leaves a deliciously savoury calling card once swallowed.

  • Gave this an 8 hour ‘Audouze’ and as we launched into it during the half time break in the footy it was humming. A gorgeous perfume of rose petals and earth envelop the nostrils. There are also notes of smoke, soy and hoisin. It is fine and lacy and the wines sappy, smoky and floral personality leads one to think that perhaps there was some whole bunch action to this wine (anyone know if Rousseau used whole bunch back then?). An absolutely delicious, mid-weight Grand Cru, that totally satisfies from a perfume and textural perspective.
