  • Blackberries, blueberries, vanilla, charcuterie, leather, meat stock. Very much in the drinking window. Still has some nice tannins and acidity to carry the wine through for another 10-15 years. 96+

  • A first look at this vintage, and it was tight, even after a couple of hours in the decanter. It did not offer much of a bouquet during decanting through the Venturi but looked fabulous, deep and dark purple/black. As is usual with the Armagh there was plenty of sediment. A rich, ripe nose, plum and blackberry, was developing by the time we started drinking over dinner, but unusually it was not overly expressive. In the mouth the indications from the colour and nose proved true, a rich and smooth, mouth filling wine, with more black fruits. Not as long on the finish as I expect of the Armagh but very satisfying and still young. I will not look at it again for another three to five years.

  • A pretty special wine. Perhaps a little bit big and sweet to really hit the mark with me but the wine is well framed and structured so quite appropriately holds it power. Dark plum and black currants with deep burnt fruit and meaty complexity. Very tasty and definitely possessed that lovely quality of more-ishness. Very fresh and years still in it.

  • Big and bold flavours on the nose, cherries, dark fruit, leather, spices, smoky bacon. Very intense and rich. On the palate equally powerful and sweet. Certainly not subtle and elegant, but still fairly well balanced and carrying the alcohol well. Good length. Should gain complexity with more bottle age. 90-91+

  • Bit more spice compared to the '09, more red fruit driven, seemed like maybe scorched berries as it was a bit more cooked, more present tannins, slight sour acidity, hot finish, in short, less balanced. Doesn't hold a candle to the '09. I was told it was a very erratic year.
