  Popped and poured. Dark ruby color. Dark red fruit with sweet spice and spicy oak notes on the nose. As the wine opened up over the course of an hour, some chocolate covered cherries and tobacco emerged. Dark and ripe black cherry and plum flavors on the palate along with some warm, toasty oak notes and a bit of chocolate. Medium+ acid and tannins with a little bit of heat on the finish. Finish was a bit short though. I think this will actually benefit from some additional bottle time because the very best sips were the last ones after the wine had been open for an hour+.

  still drinking very nicely, well balanced with not overpowering fruit, medium long finish. a good value wine.

  Crimson color. Sour cherries, red fruit, tobacco and slightly earthy notes on the nose. Similar flavors on the palate with darker fruit, mouth watering acidity, medium tannins and a dry finish. Good balance. Great food wine for Italian fare. Very similar to the 2006 but a bit more ripe. I enjoyed this quite a bit.

  This is actually a blend of 60% Sangiovese, 20% Sagrantino with the rest consisting of Cabernet Sauvingon and Merlot. It is more elegant than the regular rosso. Clear, medium plus ruby in color. The acidity, tannkns, alcohol are all medium. The body, flavor intensity and length are medium plus. Black fruit, red fruit (red currant) and oak due to ageing at least 30 months in large, old slavonian oak casks.
