This bottle is in a nice spot, no signs of premox. I am going through my 02's as I have had a fairly high level of disappointment, but when they are on these are just beautiful wines. Not overly sweet, well balanced with a long and deep quince paste and cream finish.
I think mycellar01's note is spot on. From appearance to bouquet, I completely agree with his findings. It isn't as heavy as Sauternes and the flavors are Chenin all the way. I enjoyed this immensely more than the 2002 Le Monts 1ere trie. Followed this 375ml for five days open, storing in the fridge overnight and it never lost its verve or balance. 5+12+18+8= 93
One hour in the decanter. Deep golden Amber in colour. Full bodied goodness, rich without the weight of desert wines. Sweet mango, honey, papaya, rock melon, passion fruit, mineral. Mild lime pith acidic undercurrent carries throughout the palate to the fine endless finish. Lively and fresh, improved weight through to two hours open, very enjoyable in its youth with much to come.

(Domaine Huet Vouvray Clos du Bourg Moelleux Première Trie) Giving little on the nose but fruit and mineral nuances and an obvious purity. A fabulous weight and texture on the palate. Much more flavours than the nose would suggest, and exquisitely balanced. This is brilliant. What a vintage! One for the cellar.
(Domaine Huet Vouvray Clos du Bourg Moelleux Première Trie) A bottle purchased at the domaine in 2003, and I don't seem to have tasted it since, so it is a delight to finally tuck into this. In the glass it has a lovely golden hue. The aromatics have great character, being full of blanched almonds, spring flowers and soft citrus fruits. It has a beautifully cool character at the start of the palate, showing a finely poised acid backbone coming through the middle, and keeping a fresh buoyancy and lovely balance to the wines. It is full of energy and yet soft and harmonious, but the vigour and crunch is persistent beneath the body of the wine. There is beautiful poise and purity here. This is truly one of the Loire's most iconic wines, and in this great vintage it shines particularly brightly. This will drink well for decades.
