La Paulee 2023: My second bottle. A little mint on the nose, had the sweet, sappy fruit of 2002 that always reminds me of Ribena. Not as structured as the ‘97 of the same wine I tried last year. Attractive, drinking very well now but lacked the finesse of the '98 Chandon de Briailles alongside.

I really nice surprise! Medium to dark garnet color with slight bricking at the edges. Opens with a classic, Red Corton aroma (hard to describe; but sage brush, mint and red earth minerality). Oak there, but in check. Pomegranate to bing cherry aroma and fruit flavors. Beautifully seductive and Corton minerality is persistent. Really, at it’s prime drinkability. Although not crashing down from it’s current apogee; I would not hesitate to drink now. As typical of Jadot style (warmer fermentation’s; more fruit forward); they drink sooner than later.

This wine was part of the Old Burgundy Tasting. It is really a excellent wine, but it kind of got overshadowed by all the competition from the other marvelous wines from the other appellations in the tasting, both from Cote de Beaune and Cote de Nuits.

Much better showing than 18 months ago, although that bottle endured air travel a couple days prior to opening. Easily 5-10 more years a solid drinking, if cellared properly.
