30 min decant. Ruby-garnet in appearance; red berry fruits, some garrigue, and some provencal herbs on the nose. Getting some kirsch, a tad of black cherries, and some black and red licorice on the palate. Finishes pretty nicely and there are still some tannins on the front. I've always been impressed by St Damien from their CdR to their Gigondas and this one does not disappoint at all.
Tuesday Night $20-$35 Double Blind (Bin 75): Dark core with thin garnet rim; dark fruit, raspberry, garrigue, raspberry pie, sweet and rich; dark and brooding a bit on the palate, raspberry, classic S. Rhone, baby aspirin, young, a freshness that makes this rich wine seem lighter, some sweet fruit on finish; good but still too young; many called Gigondas on this which I could not dispute.
