Needed to open up and get past initial aldehydes in the nose but then a nice bright red fruit nose and mis palate with a slight acidity that went better with food. Slightly woody tannins but balanced if with a meal. A bit tart to drink alone.
Drank side by side with the Rubicon (inglenook) '06 cab franc. Really highlighted the purity of fruit in this incredible wine. Big tart berry flavor, but never out of balance. Subtle hints of the chalky limestone on the finish.
I wanted a friend to try this wine. A bit different than the first time at the winery.
Cola, blackberry, tobacco, and some toasty oak. Very plush aroma. You can tell this wine is dense. And it is tasty with nice supple tannins, more black fruit and a hint of molasses in the mouth. Very nice wine. Big boy!
