PNP. Cork perfect. Color dark garnet with brick edges. Started fairly tight then opened up with air had dark fruit at the beginning then developed secondaries. Leather, cedar tobacco chocolate and plums. Swishing shows totally integrated tannin and supporting acid. This is weighty and dense but polished. Great length. In a great spot, but has many years ahead.
5/1/14, 6/14/14, 7/12/14 tastings. 75% Cabernet Franc, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. 13% ABV. The tannins have become soft and silky, really seamless. Age has treated this mountain red well. Eath, cedar, stewed/roasted dark fruit, notably plum and cherry.
While the tannins remain a bit drying, the wine is rich with oak and herbal notes (particularly sage and peppermint) dominating. The fruit is pleasant, the balance good if imperfect, and the finish medium plus and a but drying. Drinks younger than expected, but not sure this will get much better with any more time.
popped and poured. color crimson/garnet. nose showing mostly cedar/tobacco at first, and the palate started out with ripping oak tannin surrounded by almost thin fruit. after being open 1-2 hours, the nose shows tobacco, dark blue and black fruits, marrow, and oak/vanilla and alcohol nuances. the palate softened quite a bit, showing heavy more plummy fruits (now becoming secondary) with balancing acid and still mostly oak tannin, although the fruit is fore and tannin is aft now. this really improved with air, and if serving again tomorrow would decant. plan to drink the next in 2-5 years.
