Wines Tasted at HDH Auction (Tru - Chicago IL): Every bottle from this case (purchased in 2012) has been wonderful at this advanced age. Lots of caramelized stone fruit with some fig, toasted hazelnut and butterscotch. Stayed wonderful throughout the evening. I liked this more than others tonight.
Pre-holiday afternoon with friends...mostly with Burgundy (Northbrook, IL): Very similar to another bottle opened this past summer, even though this bottle from the same case had a worse fill (~2.5 cm) and the color was more golden. Aromas were again quite earthy with a strong roasted hazelnut character. Ripe fruit on palate, but very well balanced and textured for a wine at this age, also very persistent start-to-finish. A great auction purchase earlier this year, thanks to David W's advice.
