Decanted of the heavy sediment and allowed to breathe for a couple hours. Once in the glass aromas jump from the glass showing a complex and well evolved mix of leather, pepper spice, cigar tobacco, cedarwood, olive tapenade and pencil shavings that come with mission fig, plum, dried blueberry, dried violets, dried meats and beef jerky, ground coffee and dark chocolate notes with hints herbs and forest floor with slight VA that in this instance adds complexity. The palate is full upon the entry with still firm yet polished, velvety tannins that are balanced with above-moderate acidity. The mouthfeel is suave, almost opulent. Flavors coat the palate in notes of dried blueberry, plum, dried black fig, black currant, dark chocolate, leather, roasted coffee bean, cigar tobacco, subtle pepper spice, dried violets, cedarwood, earth, dried meats and a hint of dried herbs and tapenade. The finish lings with grip and echos the complexity This wine is showing quite well at the moment, a pleasant surprise.

Friends opened this at their 4/13/19 card night. It had a deep, rich, fragrant nose of blackberry, black cherry, plum, mocha, cocoa, licorice, pepper and spice aromas. The palate was rich and dense with flavors that followed the nose.

Still a brute force wine, it does seemed to have calmed down and integrated a bit vs. prior bottles. Big licorice and vanilla notes to go with blackberry jam. A style I like but not for everyone, understandably.

Decanted for 3+ hours. Heavy sediment. Aromas show a mixture of meats, dark chocolate, plum, espresso, blackberries, cigar box, dried sage and herbs, black olive tapenade, earth and notes of boot leather with a hint of VA that adds a subtle complexity. The palate is full, moderate acid and medium-plus tannins come with medium-plus density across the mid-palate. Flavors lean on the savory side with sage, olive tapenade, red meats, baking chocolate, espresso and earth with plum sauce, blackberry and a trace of polished leather. Showing the higher alcohol level through the chewy finish.
Overall completely different than what I recall from the last time I had this wine. Showing a touch of VA, whichI don't always mind, but overall seems further along in development than I would have expected.

(Gorman Winery The Evil Twin Red Wine Red Mountain) A dark, brooding wine with high toned aromas of spice, mineral, dark fruit, and herbal tones. The palate is incredibly rich and textured, a multiple swallow wine with a healthy grip of tannins and a hugely long finish. A shockingly good wine with an absolutely outrageous texture. 65% Syrah, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in 100% new French oak. 15.2% alcohol. 450 cases produced.

Decanted 2 hrs. There is a nice richness at this point. Tannins resolved, pair with bigger food.
