Pol Roger Wine Society 150th Anniversary Tasting (Churchill War Rooms): Dosage 34 g/l. Pale colour. No sweetness on the nose. More balanced, less sweet on the palate than I expected - it's only really the aftertaste which is sweet - there's a great deal of acidity to balance the sweetness. More a curiosity than something I'd choose to buy, but a well put together drink.

Had this as a digestive after A LOT of wine. Deep golden in the glass with persistent bubbles. Nose is marked by notes of canned peach, nectarine, poached pear, yellow apple, vanilla. Medium-bodied with moderate acidity and a fair bit of sweetness. Not entirely balanced, but not off track either. Easy to drink Champagne, but not a repeat for me.

Le Tour de Champagne tasting (Amsterdam, NL): Normally not a big fan of non-dry champagnes (this has 54 g/l residual sugar), but this was nice and balanced

Still not really comfortable with sweet champagne. But this one is really good. Can live with it!

Buttery, brioche, peaches. Sweet. Good balance between the sweetness and acidity of sweeter citrus eg red grapefruit or blood orange.
Enjoyable drink for a celebratory occasion and a conversation starter due to the sweeter nature of the Champagne which is much more unusual nowadays.
