  From the vintner of outstanding vintages of Petite Sirah, my expectations were high. Instead, found this wine to be reminiscent of Italian swill. Mid-bodied, muted fruit (mouth feel seemed watered back and not elegant as described by some), heavy handed use of acid and wood which renders this wine consumable only with food. If you enjoy Italian wines, you may be able to tolerate this one.

  On the eye the wine exhibits a dark central core with a vibrant dark red rim. The aromas are quite gentile, very elegant with notes of blackberries, plums, dark cherries, sweet tobacco,smoke, and with a small dose of vanilla cream on the end. Great flavors of blackberries mingling with cherries on the attack, a dense mid-palate showing dark chocolate with raspberries, as well as a slight hint of roasted coffee. The finish is long with dark fruits, spices, vanilla, and very polished tannins. A mid to full bodied wine with great structure, very elegant and well put together; this is a “comfort” wine, everything is there, its easy to understand, but most of all its very enjoyable.

  Outstanding Quixote cab that is drinking quite well now. Great nose, tannins are mellow but acidity is still high and mellows with time; good balance in palate and plenty of fruit, smoke, black berries, vanilla and tobacco; decent several second finish
