Beautiful dark color. Incredible nose with fresh fruit and a bit of heat. Very thick texture. Palate had lots of cherry fruit with some heat on the backend. Hard to believe this is almost 70 years old. No sign at all of getting tired. This bottle actually came across as it would improve with additional age. Will still be going strong when our children and grandchildren are ready to drink it. Amazing treat.
had 4 bt from 94-98 pt this wine will go another 40 years its delightful high levels matter hear get in the neck well stored it is 98/100 its yummy but does vary but im sure storage will vary and thats why we will see point variation in these old ports buy its lovely but the 48 t is greater but very different how the 45 retains its burg colour and no brown rim god only knows how after 60 years LOL
Taylor Vintage Port Vertical (Los Angeles, California): Always an emotional wine, for the "peace" vintage and for its brown wartime bottle. Perfect dark cherry-garnet color with glints of ruby. Slightly shy but pleasing nose of chocolate, black pepper, and plums. A stronger chocolate note on the palate. Unctuous, rich and mouth-filling. Fine balance, with passing heat and somewhat weak acidity. Perhaps not the freshest of bottles, but still very nice drinking. Oporto bottled, neck fill, 3.5 hours in decanter.
