Nose: fruitcake batter! Dried currants, figs, dates, cherries. Dark spiced rum. Blackforest cake. Slight hint of shaved oak and peeled willow bark. Very big nose. Taste: medium body, very dry, almost astringent. Fruits are sour blackberry, cranberry, raspberry; quite sour fruits rather than rich/ripe. Has a nice sweet grass or hay mid-palate. Enjoyable sweet herb in the mix as well (sage). Finishes with very big walnut skin tannins; comes on very strong, almost tongue-numbing. Needs time/air.

Was not impressed with this. perhaps bottle was off. Was much better on the nose than on the palette and did not really develop over time. cherry remained prominent with the finer berries scarcely showing.

Fresh red fruit on the nose - red cherries, raspberries, strawberries - which carry through to the palate. A bit one note based on what you'd expect from a Napa cab but for the price point it is a nice, refreshing cab. Very little tannic structure so drink soon.

Much like the usual Napa cabernet but with an unusual aftertaste still is pleasant . I had to pay about $15.00 from Lowes Foods a NC grocery that jacks up the wine prices then gives a discount. We served with a pork loin bone-in roast brined for about 8 hours then smoked over applewood for about 2 hours. There were a lot of flavors from the smoky taste of the pork. The brine was a mixture of salt, maple syrup, garlic, pepper and star anise.
